The owners of Elouera Vale have created a new (completed Dec ’21), cosy, luxury, off the grid, private retreat for couples to relax and enjoy peace (as well as the delights of the Southern Highlands). At ‘The Gums’, you can experience country life at its best with a unique luxury farm stay experience. As you enter the property, you pass by the camels (the only camel farm in the Southern Highlands) on the way to your accomodation. ‘The Gums’ offers stylish accommodation in a superbly appointed cottage, set within acres of magnificent white gums. The serene setting and stylish interior of ‘The Gums’ provides all the essentials for a picturesque and peaceful country escape.

Facilities -‘The Gums’ is a pavilion style cottage with a large, covered balcony. It has a kitchen, dining/living area, bedroom with king size bed and bathroom facilities. The kitchen is fully equipped and includes a full size fridge, microwave, oven, cook top, classy kettle, Nespresso coffee machine and insect zapper.Other facilities include fire pit (except summer), BBQ, blue tooth speaker, air conditioning and fold out divan.There is 5G mobile telephone reception. All towels, sheets, pillows, dooner and blanket are supplied. A complementary welcome pack includes – camel milk beauty products, a locally produced bottle of wine and nibbles.

Working Farm -‘Elouera Vale’ is a working farm, breeding and training camels for sale, especially into the Southern Highlands. Camels are excellent for weed control and co-grazing with cattle. ‘Elouera Vale’ also breeds belted galloway cattle, dorper & wiltipol sheep and donkeys.

Outdoors and Wildlife -The property sprawls over 140 acres, 80 acres cleared and pasture improved and the rest consisting of forest. The Chain O Ponds creek runs through the property and makes for a lovely walk. You will probably get to see kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, echidnas, koalas and lots of bird life.

In the area – Shops/Facilities – The closest shops are approximately a 15 minute drive to the Mittagong Town Centre. 

Cool Climate wines – The region’s rich soil and high altitude are ideal for cool-climate wine growing. Visit cellar doors in the hills and valleys around Mittagong, including Centennial Vineyards. Enjoy a pleasant wine tasting experience at Centennial (don’t forget to mention Elouera Vale). 

Cafes – with almost 100 spots to enjoy a barista coffee in any of the towns and villages, the Southern Highlands coffee set is alive and well. Freshly roasted coffee beans, the aroma is instantly recognisable, the Southern Highlands is home to one of the largest coffee trails in Australia. It is well worth a visit to ‘The Shaggy Cow’ cafe, Mittagong (don’t forget to mention Elouera Vale).  

Walking and cycling trails – The lush green hills abound with walking and cycling trails. For example, head to the spectacular Nattai Gorge via the Box Vale Mine walking track, an easy 4.4km circular walk that follows an old railway line through a tunnel to breathtaking views. Enjoy a picnic in the magnificent Lake Alexandra Reserve or hike up extinct volcanic peak Mount Gibraltar.

Farm Tour – meet the Camels !!!!!!!

Check out the farm – creeks, bush, paddocks and stock. This includes a stop over with the camels for an introduction, feed and pat. Learn about camels and gain an appreciation for them. This is 2 hours of fun – energising and informative. Worth every cent while you are here.
